NatureTrack Film Festival Opening Night

Carpinteria night at the Alcazar Theatre

The 8th NatureTrack Film Festival opens with two nights in two towns, and Carpinteria's is first, at the Alcazar Theatre. Doors open at 6 pm with local wine, cocktails and small bites. The evening honors 2026 Honored Artist Tom Henderson and gives the NatureTrack Outdoor Icon Award to filmmaker Michael Love, with a compilation of Love's work and a conversation moderated by Chris Jenkins.

The featured film is *Frost Without Snow and Ice* by Norway's Asgeir Helgestad, a portrait of Norway's changing landscapes and wildlife, followed by an audience Q&A. This year's program was chosen from 141 entries from 32 countries. Admission is $25, and proceeds support the NatureTrack Foundation's free outdoor field trips for K–12 students and its Freedom Trax program for wheelchair users. The same program repeats Nov 6 in Los Olivos.
