SB Newcomers Cycling: Hendry's Beach Loop
Flat 25-mile ride to Goleta and back
The Newcomers Club cycling group starts from the Hendry's Beach parking lot and follows the bike path to the Obern Trail in Goleta, then rides on through UCSB and Isla Vista before heading back along the bike path past Hope Ranch to Hendry's. It's a fairly flat ride of about 25 miles with roughly 700 feet of climbing.
Riders of every level and any kind of bike are welcome, and the group stops several times to regroup. You should be comfortable riding in city traffic, and it's a good idea to download the route ahead of time so you can find your way on your own if needed. After the ride, anyone who wants can stay for food or drinks at The Boathouse on the beach.
