SB Newcomers: Stride by the Tide
Coastal beach walk
The Santa Barbara Newcomers Club walks the sand at Hendry's Beach (Arroyo Burro Beach County Park) every Tuesday and Thursday morning. It's a chance to get some fresh air and exercise, meet new people, catch up with friends and keep an eye out for whales and dolphins. Some walkers go fast and some stroll.
The group meets at 8:40 am at the top of the stairs down to the beach, between The Boathouse restaurant and the lifeguard stand. Wear shoes you can walk on sand in; at high tide the walk may head up to the nearby Douglas Family Preserve instead. Afterward, people often share a snack and conversation at the picnic tables near the start.
