Trail Talks: Carrizo Plain – A Sense of Place
Film screening and Q&A with Jeff McLoughlin and Oak Group painters
Santa Barbara filmmaker Jeff McLoughlin screens his 32-minute documentary Carrizo Plain – A Sense of Place, about the last remnant of the grassland that once covered California's Central Valley. The film follows painters Chris Chapman, Bill Dewey and John Iwerks as they interpret the national monument, along with rare-plant biologist Heather Schneider of the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden.
After the film, McLoughlin leads a discussion and Q&A with Chapman and Iwerks, both members of Santa Barbara's Oak Group of landscape painters. McLoughlin's earlier films include The Condor's Shadow. The film was made for the California Nature Art Museum. The program is for adults.
