UCSB Son Jarocho Ensemble
World Music Series lunchtime concert
The UCSB Son Jarocho Ensemble, directed by Jorge Mijangos, plays music and dance from Veracruz, Mexico, which blends Mexican, Spanish and African roots. Much of it centers on the fandango, a community gathering of song, dance and verse.
The free noon concert is part of the World Music Series, held Wednesdays at the Music Bowl, the music department’s outdoor amphitheater. The UCSB MultiCultural Center and the ethnomusicology program present the series.
